In a recent interview with CNN-News18, Smriti didn’t shy away when asked if she’s currently the highest-paid actor in Indian television. She answered, “Yes,” without blinking an eye.
Her journey started back in 2000 when she played the iconic Tulsi Virani in the original ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’. At the time, she was just another newcomer trying to make it big in the world of television. Fast forward to today, and she’s not only a star but also the top earner in the industry.

Talking about her rise, Smriti said, “I see the glee on your face.” She explained how it’s not just about fame. It’s also about delivering results. “If you deliver on history, on numbers and revenue, why not?” she said.

Smriti also pointed out something many fans might not know. She is part of a union. “The first thing I do is register my union number,” she revealed. According to her, every actor is part of a bigger system.
She said, “Not only pay parity, I beat the boys and the girls.” In other words, she earns more than many of her male and female co-stars.
Smriti Irani said she has helped others shine too, in terms of fees and more. “I had the capacity of making stars out of others who are with me,” she admitted.
